Climbing gardens around the Glecksteinhut
There are some beautiful climbing gardens around the hut since many years. All routes have been completely renewed in the last years!
There are over 60 pitches of difficulty, ranging from 2b to 6b. From the 12m top rope route to the 7 pitch tour.
The majority of the routes are on difficulty 3c / 4a.
All routes are perfect for:
- Training and practice climbing
- Learn rope handling, rope climbing, abseiling, top rope
- Varied day on an alpine tour week in the Wetterhorn / Schreckhorn area
- KIBE or youth-camps
- Family climbing
- Courses
Overview of the different sectors
All routes can be reached from the hut within 2 to 12 minutes. The topos are on the hut.
Pirelliplatten
Beautiful slab climbs in close proximity to the hut.
Character: Fine to good grip gneiss. Sloping to steeper plates.
Approach: A little up to the north of the hut, around the climbing garden, you reach the entrances.
Material: 50m single rope, 10 express slings.
Special: Beautiful climbing garden for beginners, families and courses located directly at the Glecksteinhut. Ideal for top ropes, abseiling and rope climbing. "Green" stands are abseiling points.
Wyssbachhorn
From the hut, the summit can be reached in a few minutes by trails. There you can expect a magnificent view down into the valley and a beautiful photo subject with the hut, the glacier and the mountains.
Character: The Steinbockgrätli is a very beautiful, alpine ridge climbing in good gneiss.
In the south wall over beautiful slabs and swings.
Routes: Steinbockgrätli, 200m, 3b
South wall routes 50 - 60m, 4a - 4c
Ascent: Slightly ascend from the hut and down north around the “Pirelliplatten” sector into the valley cut.
Material: 30m single rope, 8-10 express slings
Special: Ideal tours for learning rope climbing and on the Steinbockgrätli also "walking on a short rope".
Wasserfassung
Easy climbing on the most beautiful gneiss
Character: Slightly sloping gneiss plates.
Approach: The sector can be reached in 8 minutes by the Upper Beesi-Bärgliweg. The entrances (marked) are 50m above the path.
Material: 50m single rope, 10 express slings.
Special: Beautiful climbing garden for beginners, families and courses near the water intake of the hut's own hydropower plant. Ideal for climbing, top rope and abseiling. Abseiling: 20-25m descent possible.
Bärgligarten
A total of eleven tricky and steeper routes in three sectors directly on Beesi-Bärgliweg.
Character: Beautiful climbing on good grip gneiss. Steeper slab and wall climbing.
Access: The sector can be reached in 6 minutes by the lower Beesi-Bärgliweg. The entrances (marked) are directly above the trail.
Material: 50m single rope, 10 express slings.
Special: Beautiful climbing garden for beginners, families and courses directly on the "Beesi Bärgliweg", which leads up to the glacier. Ideal for climbing, top rope and abseiling. No. 8 for rope climbing. Descent possible. Abseiling: 20-25m
Scheenbiel
Varied routes on friction plates and short upswings.
Character: climbing on rough and easy-grip gneiss. Sloping to steeper plates.
Access: The sector can be reached in 8 minutes via the lower Beesi-Bärgliweg. (150m further from the Bärgligarten). The entrances (marked) are 50m above the path. The "Sir A. Wills" route starts in the stream bed.
Material: 50m single rope, 10 express slings.
Special: Beautiful climbing garden for beginners, families and courses directly above the “Gleckstein’s”, a former bivouac site steeped in history. Ideal for climbing, top rope, abseiling and rope climbing. Descent possible.
